One of the smartest of the Whippet Six models, this very rare Holden Bodied Sports Deluxe Roadster is oozing with character and charm and is ready for the road ahead.
As a upper model to the 4 cylinder Whippet 96a, the 98a boasted the 50bph 2.9 Litre 6 cylinder engine that boasted a top speed of over 65mph connected with a 3 speed manual transmission. Four wheel mechanical disk brakes bring the car to a holt. The Willys boasts the unusually unique ‘Finger Tip’ control button in the middle of the steering wheel that controls the starting of the vehicle (pull), horn (push) and headlights (turn to the right). Originally priced at $850, the Sports Deluxe Roadster Six was at the top of the model line up.
This particular example is one of the very rare Holden bodied sports deluxe roadsters in which only 80 were produced. It has been subject to a full nut and bolt restoration by the current owner featuring new paint in yellow and maroon, new trim work, fabric hood and engine rebuild.
Other notable features include, a “Klaxet” horn in full working condition, original “Finger Tip Control” knob, original model specific handbook, telescopic shock absorber conversion and indicators.
This Wippet is a fantastic vehicle and is not to be missed!
This vehicle comes with RWC and balance of registration (20/02/2020) (not including current plates).
